TREASURE COAST MITIGATION BANK |
|
The Treasure Coast Mitigation Bank is (TCMB) is located in northern St. Lucie County on approximately 3000 acres of abandoned/fallow citrus grove. The bank operates as a general use mitigation bank for permitted wetland impacts in St. Lucie, Indian River and portions of Martin, Okeechobee and Osceola counties. EarthMark Mitigation Services began our efforts to permit, develop and restore the property as a mitigation bank in 2003 and has obtained credit releases for both herbaceous and forested wetland impacts.
Treasure Coast Mitigation Bank is currently permitted as a wetland mitigation bank through the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the United State Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). The existing lands that make up the bank are being restored to their historic condition, supporting a diversity of natural communities including, mixed cypress forest, mixed forested wetlands, freshwater marshes and small areas of oak hammock and pine flat woods uplands. The restoration will improve the ecological conditions within the regional watersheds and will provide essential habitat for many migratory and year round wildlife species.
Treasure Coast Mitigation Bank offers freshwater forested credits and fresh water herbaceous credits within our approved service area. Currently TCMB utilizes WRAP methodology.
Applicants seeking to offset wetland impacts through the Treasure Coast Mitigation Bank will acquire credits through the bank at a one to one ratio. Once a determination is made how many acres are impacted, and the WRAP score is multiplied by the area of wetland impacts, an equal number of credits can be purchased to mitigate for each unit of impact. The superior quality of EarthMark’s restoration efforts at TCMB makes this ratio possible. Our clients and the environment receive the benefits.
